  3. Symptoms frequently occur in the morning before breakfast and commonly include difficulty in waking. Nevertheless, contrary to common belief, an episode of reactive hypoglycaemia in response to the ingestion of a meal is often the earliest sign of disease in patients with insulinoma. 
  4. Approximately fifteen per cent of all insulinomas are metastatic.
